Wausau Symphonic Band: Winter Concert

  • First Presbyterian Church 406 Grant St Wausau, WI 54403 USA (map)

The Wausau Symphonic Band is excited to present their winter concert on February 10th, featuring guest composer James Kuzmic and saxophone soloist Clarke Crandell. The concert takes place at the First Presbyterian Church of Wausau (406 Grant St) at 4pm, under the direction of Dr. Patrick Lawrence.

Experience the power, majesty, and warmth of the symphonic band sound! Audiences will hear the roots of the modern concert band, from William Schuman's "Chester" and Alfred Reed's "First Suite for Band", to the dazzling and colorful works of contemporary composers Steven Bryant and Samuel Hazo. The symphonic band will also perform "On This Bright Morning" in commemoration of the late composer, David Maslanka.

In addition, the band will be performing the world-premiere of James Kuzmic's "Beyond the Skies: Revelations Unfold". The group is excited to feature long-time member and saxophonist Clarke Crandell on the Puccini-inspired concerto "Tosca Fantasy" for saxophone and band.

Tickets are available at the door with cash, check, or card accepted. $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and free admission to children under 18.

This concert is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
